A land of just 10 million inhabitants, Belgium will welcome you warmly. In its capital, Brussels, you will find international crossroads and headquarters for both NATO and the European Union. French, Dutch and German are the country's three official languages and an invisible "borderline" divides the French speaking south from the Dutch speaking north, with a small German enclave alongside neighboring Germany. Your host family and school will be in the French speaking region, but the country's small size assures you of the chance ot visit Bruges, Gent, Liege, all boasting splendid architectural treasures. Throughout centuries, Belgium has produced more than its share of painters, scuptors, writers and musicians. Immerse yourself in the country's rich history and enjoy mussels, walffles and the world's best chocolate in beeautiful Belgium.
